A quick walk upto the Royal Mile and we were away. The tour covers The Highlands, Isle of Skye and Loch Ness. One good thing about off season travelling is that the group size is usually small. This time we have 6. We picked up a few in Glasgow the headed off into the Highlands of Scotland.

The other great effect of a small group is we can stop rather often for little things along the way and the van is much faster. First photo stop was the 3 sisters rocks.

We passed a vally that we were told the RAF use for test flights and Mark our guide showed us the tree a jet hit on a low pass (its the right hand one thats shorter). The jet was fine but it flying very low.

We covered alot of ground throughout the day. One loch was Called Loch Lochy, or Lake Lakey. Classic. Day one was pretty much reserved for travelling with a lunch stop in Fort William where I had “The Ultimate Burger” of Beef patty, chicken breast, bacon, cheese and tomato. Can’t disagree. Night was a relaxed one of food at the Isles Inn and an early night.

Day 37 – Seeing the magnificent Island of Skye.

Skye is one of the most beautiful places i’ve been so far. We were treated to all sorts of weather. We headed to the North most areas first and hit snow pretty quickly going by Kilt rock.

We headed more north and stopped by The Old man of Storr and were treate with more snow and a slippery bit of road to get some incredible photos in Quiraing.

We also a got wee look at Duntulm Castle, of which there isn’t much left of it.

After lunch a strange lunch of a steak pie with the meat on the outside!? we headed to Talisker Distillery for a taste test. Scotch has never been my drink but it was pretty good with a very smokey peat taste. Came across a $4000NZD+ bottle of 37yr whiskey.

Going back we saw a few water falls, the end of the rainbow and the sunset before I got dropped off to do some writing and starting a lazy night due to a killer headache.
