A collection of my thoughts as I travel the world.

Day 3 & 4 – Wandering Shanghai and off to Nepal

After the excitement of the day before I tried for a more relaxing day. Plan was to head out to Yu Garden and Old Shanghai then to Peoples Square and the Oriental Pearl Tower.

This place was a tourist hotspot and there was alot of people. Easy to play the cheap bastard card and follow tours around and listen to narrator!

Some interesting food that I dare not try.

If I never saw Jade again, it would be too soon. All these streets were lined with Jade, copper and sadly ivory carvings. Some lady tried to sell me “authentic Jade”, which upon closer inspection I could see the mould leftovers on them. (I tried to get a Jade horse Nikita but they were all fake).

Yu Garden was pretty cool although you start to get a bit over gardens in Shanghai.

I have tried to get at least one photo in each place of me to stop everyone saying “why aren’t you in any of the photos!!”

The “No Shits Given” cat which lay in the middle of the main walk through for the garden.

In the afternoon I met up with Daniel and did some afternoon wandering around.

Peoples Square seemed to be just filled with people playing cards, which drew a pretty good crowd.

Daniel convinced me to try the metro again, which was alot better with out a pack and not being rush hour. We headed to the Oriental Pearl Tower or the Radio Tower. 374m to where we went.

Was hard to get good photos from the top as the interior was lit up bright neon blue. Pretty cool though.

We took “The Bund Sightseeing Tunnel” Under the river to get back to the hotel. Which was stereotypically lit up with 1000’s of neon lights.

Had anothe look from the bund and walked down Nanjing Street to the metro home.

Today (day 4) I am just checking out and flying to Kathmandu for the next leg of the trip.

First blue sky i’ve seen in China ever. Sitting at Hongqiao Airport.

Sometimes before I go to bed I think that you’re waking up somewhere random ready for, or suffering from an adventure. Or eating that yak skull floating in yak eyeball soup looking thing.
