Well with a 4am start I was feeling pretty tired on arrival to my hotel, which I missed by 6 blocks due to me just putting the street into my phone without the number. The hostel is more like a hotel with shared bathrooms but it does have breakfast included.
After a small nap and a shower I set out to go for a walk around the city. It’s hard getting used to using a paper map again since i’ve had a local sim card for the past month and a half.
First stop was Kungsholmen to see the City Hall.
The feeling is similar to Edinburgh, all the buildings are old and the weather is mild and windy. But the colours are much brighter.
With the light fading away I realised I was close to some of the music stores I had googled the previous days. And I was sad but not surprised that out of 4 music stores in the area, not one left handed guitar, is it just a trait that been breed out of Scandinavia? wtf.
It was cool to see some of the gear they had. Lots of cool old Fender Showman’s and Vibro Kings and custom shop gear, even an old Gibson Melody Maker.
After that I just went back to the hotel to rest, except to go out to a 7 Eleven to get some water and snacks. Why the fuck is all the water fizzy here?!
Day 67
With and early Sunday start I got some posts finished on the blog and headed towards the Royal Palace and the Old Town. Old town is pretty damn cool, filled with gift shops, bars and restaurants.
The Royal Palace was interesting, although lost some of its stance with all the renovations and construction outside.
The inside was impressive still. I managed to jump onto one of the guided tours in time which made it alot less boring. The guide covered everything from the massive fires that lead to its current look to bands almost break the roof due to moshing and a 300kg light.
The tour also covered the Amoury and a game of Thones chair for some reason?
Stockholm is beautiful at night as are most cities i’ve been too during winter on this trip. Walking up Drottninggatan at night is cool even if there are some strange shops on the way.
Finished off the night getting a very Burger Burger style dinner at Flippn Burgers.
