Day 38 started off rainy and boring, but the B&B was great with a whole table to myself.

The plan for the day was to travel back to Edinburgh via Lock Ness. The snow had passed and now it was just heavy rain and low visibilty. But the rain didn’t put a damper on the views.

The first two big stops was Loch Ness. Its so strange driving through Scotland, everything looks very familiar yet so different. I could easily live in this country.

And for Paul and Cailor’s information, I did not find Nessy, I did try to take a blurry photo of a duck to snapchat but it looked to duck like and I knew you wouldn’t buy it.

Caught a few highland cattle on the way to Eilean Donan Castle. They are no Yaks though.

Eilean Donan Castle was pretty cool. Again no photos inside but still impressive.

Spent the night at a hostel called Kick Ass Hostels. Both branches had kiwi’s working on the reception. Note to self never try and book hostel for a Saturday night on a Friday night.

Turned out to be a pretty good night, parked up with the couple of aussies that were on the tour and drank fosters and played card games for most of the night. So funny that everytime fosters is brought up the aussies got real annoyed cause they don’t drink it at home and its brewed in the UK.

Day 39

Spent most of the day relaxing. Went to the Stockbridge markets where I got the first pie I’ve had in weeks. As I would later find out it was not a good idea to have one. Goes to show, only the best pies are from home.

After the timberbush tour I really wanted to watch Skyfall again, so Addy and I spent the afternoon watching it.

The night was a bit interesting. The idea was to go watch some Christmas Carolling. What I hadn’t thought through was that it was going to be a full Church service, in which we ended up sitting in the front rows and there was no way I was going to be singing! After the first song, I very un-subtly said to the others I would meet them after as it was going to be very uncomfortable 2hours.

I managed to time it just right that I thought I could slip out while everyone was standing for the sing-along. Except I only got halfway before everyone sat down, how embarassing.

After figuring out how to load more data onto my phone, I googled for the nearest pub. There was a cool second hand music store with a 1974 left handed Baldwin bass in the window. Turns out it was a good thing I left as that lamb and feta pie was not sitting good, which pretty much ended my night with lying on the couch while everyone went for cheese and wine down the road.
