One of the big sports in Norway is cross country skiing, which there is several hundred kilometres of in the mountains. The temperatures were rising from -15 to a nice -2 which is much better for trying to ski.
Literally 10 metres before I was on my ass, and it wouldn’t be the last time. Once we were on the tracks I was told I was doing ok for a first timer. At least the snow on the tracks was nice and soft.
It was a pretty fun experience, although i’m not convinced i’m suited to it. But the hills were fun to go down, uphill not so much, reminds me of mountain biking. The snow off track was about 30-40cm deep. Lunch was pancakes and cheese and bread, I could get used to this!
That night we had Reindeer stew and it was good. Caillor informed me that I should have snapchatted a picture of it in the shape of rudolf.
After dinner the weather cleared up and I tried out my little tripod outside to get some stary photos since it was so dark outside. Much to my surprise with the shutter set to 20 seconds the sky turned green?! So it turns out the Aurora reaches all the way down to Åal.
After dialing in my camera I managed to get some good night sky photos too.
Day 62
The next day I didn’t go skiing with everyone, turns out the shoes were a bit too small for me and I got blisters, also I was crap at it. So I went for a walk with Anders to try get some photos and views.
The snow turned out to be a bit deeper in some places when we were cutting tracks to a higher view point.
Still managed to get some good views though. Even on the walk back you see some cool things.
The clouds and the mountains sometimes blur together in photos. The night was again filled with awesome food, some snow lamps and great night skies.
